Medco E&P Natuna Ltd awarded Mahakarya Geo Survey (MGS) the contract in May 2021 for 3D seismic services over 270 km2 at Kaci Block located in the Natuna Sea. MGS will use its S/V Nordic Bahari. Erham Adhitiawan, Medco Energy Manager Exploration Operation Support said, “Medco holds a world-class standard in every project, thus expects MGS to be able to complete and deliver world class 3D data acquisition from Kaci.”

Currently Kaci structure is structurally well defined by 2D seismic data, however this structure needs 3D seismic data specially to select optimum location and trajectory of future development well drilling. Medco E&P Natuna Ltd will carry out this campaign to follow up “Gas Discovery” drilling campaign last year in support of development of a new well location to increase production significantly in the future.  The intention of the survey is to acquire a high-quality seismic image in term of in the depth interval of 1700 – 1800 feet which is the main gas bearing reservoir in the structure. S/V Nordic Bahari is configured and prepared to acquire the required world class 3D seismic data.

Henky Suharto, Director of MGS, said: “MGS is pleased to be awarded for this Medco 3D Seismic Survey campaign and will ensure a world-class data will be produced from our Nordic Bahari data acquisition. And wish every of our personnel and crew work in high spirit and back home safely”. During the project Kick Off meeting this week both Medco E&P Natuna Ltd. and MGS committed to strive to complete Kaci 3D seismic acquisition and processing while focusing on safety, health, efficiency and effectiveness to produce high quality data within the planned timeline and budget.
