Mahakarya Geo Survey and Offshore Works Indonesia are pleased to announce they have deployed MGS-owned seismic survey vessel MV Nordic Bahari to undertake 3D Seismic High Resolution for BP Berau’s Tangguh Extension Project in Bintuni Bay, West Papua. The survey, which covered Kepe-Kepe and Goby blocks, was successfully completed on 18 April 2022.

This project is a priority for BP’s continued development in the region. The 3D Seismic High-Resolution data acquired by MV Nordic Bahari from the two prospect areas will be of a great assistance for planning and initiating future expansion.

Nordic Bahari is equipped with precise on-board and in-sea navigation positioning systems to coordinate its seismic recording equipment. In addition, it accommodates on-board geophysicists that enable seismic data analysis and configuration for 3D, 3D Seismic High Resolution and 2D programs. These excellent capacity and capabilities have met BP’s strict quality assurance and HSE requirements.

At the completion of the survey, Nordic Bahari managed to produce excellent HSE statistics and high standard data quality that are in line with BP project. Mahakarya Geo Survey and Offshore Works Indonesia are proud to be involved in BP Tangguh Extension Project, which is part of BP’s commitment to field development in Indonesia.

Mahakarya Geo Survey strives to consistently improving our capabilities and become an important linchpin to achieve Indonesia’s golden vision within the oil and gas sector and other strategic industries.
